Love it! April 25, 2010 Cherise Kachelmuss (IL) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
My 3 year old, Aidan, loves this truck! I made the mistake of letting him ride it around the house since it was cold out when we first got it (crazy Chicago weather) and now he drives it everywhere in the house. I don't really mind because it's plastic and it makes him so happy how can I take it away! Aidan drives it to the stairs when he needs to go up or down and he parks it there waiting for him. He has taken it in the bathroom with him to wash his hands, into the kitchen and had a corndog and sippy cup in it, and he even cleans it with wet wipes! Oh and the first night he even wanted it in his bedroom!
We have played with outside too and he has brought it over to all the neighbors to show them. He drives it like there is no tomorrow! He even makes siren noises! The truck wheels glide perfectly and the steering wheel works great too. We haven't added water yet to the water tank yet, but I am sure that will be a hit when the weather warms up here. It is also roomy in there and not a tight fit.
As for assembly, the Little Tikes directions were awesome. It even mentioned an online video for assembly but my husband had no problems putting it together in about 15 minutes. I will say though if you are ordering this online as a surprise or present, it does come shipped in the actual Little Tikes box, not a brown cardboard box so it will be seen.
Overall, this Fire Truck is more than a hit in my house. My 22 month old has played in it a little bit and enjoys it, but that is only when I can pry my 3 year out! I was especially surprised too that Aidan likes it so much as I didn't realize he is that into fire trucks, so this is not just for fire truck lovers!
firetruck June 9, 2010 Barbara Jones Truck came in a very short amount of time and seems to be everything it was supposed to be.
This gift was a RESCUE!!! August 6, 2010 Nana (Pampa, TX, US) This was a gift for our little 4 year old grandson. He LOVED it!! Not only did he pretend to be putting out the fires, but he watered his mommy's outdoor flowers, washed parts of his daddy's car, washed off the sidewalk ~ the fun never ended!! I would recommend this for any child around the age of 4. The only thing we had to watch was that he wanted to bring it inside and water everything. This toy is great, in that you can remove the water tank so that the toy can be brought inside without doing any damage to things that are not waterproof! We purchased the Little Tykes gas pump to go with it, and he had so much fun pretending that he was filling his firetruck with gas every so often.
He loved it and we loved watching him pretend play with it!!
Little Tikes Spray and Rescue Fire Truck August 9, 2010 bjdrayer I have a Family Child Care business in my home and the children love this. Fill the tanker up on hot days and let them spray away!! It's been great on these 95 degree days!!
Water tank issues -- otherwise, great May 10, 2010 Michael N. Vasquez (Arizona) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My daughter, 3, saw this on TV. Since I am tightly wrapped around her finger, I ordered it. It's relatively easy to put together -- all you need is a phillips screwdriver and a hammer.
PROs:
She loves it! She drives it around, going VROOM VROOM VROOM. She absolutely adores it, even without spraying water everywhere. So that's great. It's easy to put together (though I do end up putting all this type of stuff together, so I'm sure experience helps). But all the parts are there, with extras, and everything fits easily enough.
CONs
1) There's a few spots where you have to screw in the siderails, and I wish they would have marked the spot better. I had to guess.
2) Some of the illustrations took a bit to figure out -- I wish 1 had been blown up a bit more.
3) THE WATER TANK. Here's the biggest of the issues. It works on air pressure. The tank has two pieces that attach to it: the pump, and the hose. The pump is fine. It attaches well to the tank. The hose blows. It attaches horribly. It is not tight enough, so that when you pump, air comes out around the house. This makes it, basically, broken.
My fix: duct tape. it fixes everything! I wrapped 2 pieces around the base where the hose is supposed to screw on. Then I screwed on the house. The extra thickiess was perfect, and made for a much better seal. It then worked perfectly.
If the tank would've have needed duct tape, this would be a five.
